I believe you are taking this whole issue based on a post modern feminist position it seems, my friend, and not from the perspective of an ancient and cruel world (a world full of wars and bloodshed). It was not a “lower” status, but a “precious” status to be protected and valued. Even Durant had mentioned in his History of civilization that women in Israel were much more advanced in status then anywhere else in the ancient world.

And one more note, where in the world did you get the idea that a woman is to be put to death if she does not have an intact hymen? Read your words, that is what you said. And that is no where in the Mosaic law.
